3 Lesser Known Beaches to add to your Holiday Bucket List
1. Alaminos Beach (Secret Paradise Beach), Mazotos
Located along the coastline from Larnaca to Kiti, you wouldn’t know this organized beach even existed if you didn’t take the time to explore this more rugged and quiet part of the Larnaca coastline. A real hit with families, there are plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas on hand, as well as a van offering refreshments and basic toasted sandwiches. And while the waters in the wider area as a whole can get a little choppy, the great thing here is that the actual bay is sheltered and the shallow waters usually remain quite calm, making for the perfect kiddy playground!
Keen to get your legs moving? There’s a great walking path to enjoy, as you look out at the kitesurfers and their kites punctuating the horizon. How to find the beach? When driving from Larnaca towards Limassol, this beach is after Mazotos and before Ayios Theodoros, right near Alaminos Harbour.
2. Sandy Beach, Chlorakas – Lempa road
Popular with toned surfers, this place attracts dedicated sporty types hitting the waves, but also beckons chilled-out beachgoers looking for quieter sands away from the main Paphos hubbub. A real hidden gem, follow the signs to the namesake secluded beach bar as you drive along a bumpy dusty road off the main Chlorakas – Lempa stretch.
A great place to take a dip in the clear waters, do keep in mind that the bay is prone to great waves and rip currents, so don’t swim out too deep. And once you have cooled off? Enjoy a sundowner as the evening sets in, music on the beach and yoga events.
3. Ammos tou Kampouri, Ayia Napa
If you love lazing on the white sands of the east coast, but find it hard to cope with the crowds that descend on the area over the summer holidays season, we have located just the right spot for you. Leaving Ayia Napa and driving towards Protaras, head onto the Kryou Nerou road, until you come across a sign pointing towards Ammos tou Kampouri.
The idyllic small cove is ideal for sunbathing and relaxation; don’t head here if you are an avid swimmer though, as it’s quite rocky. The beach has recently been given an upgrade, with gorgeous sunbeds, wicker umbrellas and gazebos to laze under.
